Kermut Stew

Would you like some Kermut stew?

If you are into real gourmet dishes, perhaps you would like to have a go at preparing one of the dishes that is very popular in rural Thailand – frogs cooked in various ways. But the ititial preparation of the meat is about the same, no matter how you would like to have your special treats finally presented.

First, you stop by the market and pick up your basic ingredients, the frogs. Here is a nice little handful of frogs.

Note the string to keep them from giving you a great game of catch-me-(again?)-if-you-can. These have been specially selected to be of good quality, and should prove to be quite delicious.

You then set about killing and skinning them. This may look a little bit messy, and believe me, for the uninitiated, it really is too. It is quite amazing to think that any young woman from a western country would most probably run as far as possible just at the sight of one of these little creatures, but here not so. They are viewed as a real delicacy and one not to be missed when the season is such that it brings them out in great numbers.

The pictures tell it all, from start to finish. There they are, ready for the pot in whatever recipe that takes your fancy.

So, what time are you coming over for dinner??
