The ah-ha moments
The ah-ha moment, that precious moment when your breath is taken away and find no words to describe or explain……
We have all been there. You are climbing a very high hill, hot day, tough going. You are feeling like this was not such a good idea to make the climb and your body is aching from the effort; mouth dry and thirsting for water; legs weary and getting heavier; skin prickling from perspiration and the clinging dust; not far to go, come this far, might as well press on to the top. Keep going, keep going, and then…
Suddenly, you find that you are at the summit – you walk out into a clearing and are stunned as you can take in the view. The seemingly endless landscape stretches out in front of you, and ends where it blends into the sky and sunset. Ah-ha……. no words can come, and you are transfixed. Lasting only a few seconds, it can feel like eternity; or no time at all; time stopped. All those irritations of your physical body are only felt on some lower and very unimportant plane.
What is it that bursts through in those ah-ha moments? They are moments outside the field of time, not governed by our perceptions of the world which is only able to be experienced through the presence of opposites – if there were no evil, how would you ever recognise good? If there is no hot, then there can be no cool; because there is sorrow we are able to feel joy; it can be no other way.
In the field of time, the ah-ha moment is transcendent and when you come back from it, you cannot explain it but you know for sure you have been somewhere, had an experience that is outside the normal and quite impossible to grasp. It is an experience, and you cannot explain an experience. You can only talk about how you came to it. Others will relate or not relate only by their own experiences.
It is the stuff of dreams, the basis of mythologies, the visions of artists, the places shamans say they can consciously go. It is the awareness of the divinity within, the communication with your true natue, the realization that within you is that consciousness that is one with natue and all of the universe. Tut-va-ma-see, you are it. But not the you that you see in the mirror, that is the guy driven by ego and the needs of the body, who is trapped in the field of time, stuck in the physical, feeling and knowing only opposites.
Where is the other you? How to find it; get back to it; bring it out. How do you bring it out when you don’t even know what it is, nor can you even conceive of what it is. Where do you even look? Well, my way is becoming clearer… but your way… you have to go find it.
Religious exlpanation: When the ah-ha moment occurs, when the inexplicable happens, the “miracle” is thought to have been given, the transcendent mystery confronts us… how can we deal with that? Our all-encompassing term for the transcendent is “god”. So, take an ah-ha moment and insert god and there you have it, no further need to think about it. You can relax in the faith believing that the all seeing, all loving creator god, father figure and giver of life is there waiting for you and taking care of it. Just as the cargo cults explained the inexplicable mystery by atributing them to their gods, so we will do the same right now, simply because our conscienceness cannot comprehend that which is going on all around? Where is the truth? The truth is within yourself, it was there all the time and is there now.
To thine own self be true.
Heal thyself.
I and the father are one.
I know my body, but I am not my body, I am the witness.
I know my feelings, but I am not my feelings, I am the witness.
I know my emotions, but I am not my emotions, I am the witness.
